Shaping Lagos for Global Relevance: Reflections from the Advanced Leadership & Policy Management Programme

It was a truly enriching session—marked by meaningful exchange, strategic dialogue, and practical learning.Interestingly, I found myself in traditional attire while facilitating a highly energetic session—a departure from my usual suit and bow tie. The shift felt intentional. After all, as we explored strategies for positioning Lagos as a global city-state, shared cultural identity emerged as a critical driver of effective place branding.

Shaping Lagos for Global Relevance

The energy in the room was palpable—focused, engaged, and forward-looking.

Shaping Lagos for Global Relevance: Reflections from the Advanced Leadership & Policy Management Programme

A Strategic Gathering of Public Sector Leaders

Our RBSN x Lagos State Government Partnership Training was in full swing as we hosted the Advanced Leadership and Policy Management Programme—an exclusive, high-level two-day training held at the Marriott Hotel, Lagos.

The programme brought together senior public sector leaders committed to driving impactful governance across ministries, departments, and agencies.

From strategic thinking to policy execution, participants engaged in hands-on learning, shared insights, and developed actionable approaches that will influence real outcomes within the public sector.

Thought Leadership & Impactful Sessions

The programme featured powerful sessions delivered by leading experts:

  • Tunde OjoCommunication and Public Sector Innovation: Branding Lagos for Global Competition
  • Charles UgwuCritical Thinking and Complex Problem Solving
  • Dr. Blessing AyemhereProject Management in the Public Sector
  • John OlaoyePublic Sector Transformational Leadership

Each session contributed to building a more agile, responsive, and innovative public sector.

Distinguished Presence

We were honoured to host top government officials, including:

  • Mr. Olabode S. Agoro – Lagos State Head of Service
  • Dr. Samuel Okeolu Omogoye – Director, Research, Innovation and Development (DRID), LASUSTECH
  • ‘Sunkanmi Oyegbola – Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office (PSO)
  • Hon. Tolani Sule – Commissioner for Tertiary Education

Beyond a Programme—A Movement for Transformation

More than a training programme, this was a meeting of minds—shaping the future of governance in Lagos State.

My sincere appreciation goes to the team at Rome Business School Nigeria and the Lagos State Government for their continued commitment to this initiative. This marked the second cohort, and we look forward not only to future engagements but, more importantly, to the tangible, collective progress we can drive for Lagos.

Because real impact begins with leaders who are prepared, informed, and equipped to act.
